At one assembly I remember hearing:
If you are serving Jehovah, and you are having difficulties, it is normal. Satan is trying to break your integrety.
If you are not serving Jehovah and you are having difficulties, its to be expected. It is a result of not listenning to His wise councel.
Conclusion: you are going to have difficulties. You cannot win.

You will see on news reports that escapees often say that they prayed to God and He delivered them. This seems to be typical human sentiment.
Those who did not escape also prayed to God: but they're not there to complain about not being heard.
"Time and unforseen occurence befall all men", jws included.
God is NOT a genie in a lamp!
Google is an amazing tool.
to the elders and ex-elders on the board:.
does the wt have any instructions to elders about reading or not reading all the contents of the da letters people submit?.
i'm thinking that the society may not want elders looking at the reasons and "apostate literature" a daing person might submit in support of their letter....
I can find no mention in particular to reading a letter of DA or not, in wt rules and regulations.
However, the judicial committee is interested in only if the person requests to dissassociate himself or not.
They would be unlikely to read a letter, carefully looking to see if his new views are founded or not in the
scriptures.
They "flee" from apostasy, so would, in my opinion, be unlikely to read all the details.
Remember, they are three. Even if one were curious, he would be unlikely to admit it in front of the others.
All details would then be put in a sealed envellop and kept indefinitley, so unlikely, too, that the envellop would
be reopened later, to be read by a curious elder.
after looking at the latest 2011 "god's gonna cut you down" district convention invite, i found myself getting a strange and familiar feeling.
back when i was mentally in the borg, i used to actually get a bit intimidated by the "fire & brimstone" message on these things.
and now that i've mentally unshackled myself, i am beginning to see the deep-seated psychological effect that a lifetime of dogma has infused in me.
Mr Falcon, check this thread and the links:
You'll see that people have been prophecying the end of the world since the day the world was born.
@LostGeneration: I checked out the thread you suggested. Thanks
" at the bottom of the image on the back of the invitation raises some eyebrows, but last night in the routine district convention article during the service meeting, i caught that one of the paragraphs mentioned that we would be encouraged to keep a copy of the tract in hand for a discussion during sunday's last talk.
my guess is, there is going to be some new revelation about what the "?
" represents, or some other fangled idea.
I'm just sat in front of my computor asking:
Did I REALLY sit through all those assemblies?
Did I REALLY go to all those meetings?
Did I REALLY get excited, cueing up to buy that literature?
I think it must have been somebody else.
i can't even believe what's happened.
i'm really in shock.. without any warning i got an email from my son yesterday afternoon.
"ive been doing a lot of thinking lately, and i have decided i no longer want to be a jehovah's witness.
Things seem to really be coming together for you HIS. Thats good news.
A little suggestion from my own experience:
I always told my children:
"Your mum will say that everything is my fault, and of course, I will think that it is hers. All of that is normal.
The one thing that is certain is: we could no longer go on living together, because we were too different."
That way, I avoided entering into a war in the childrens minds. I believe they appreciated that.
with the royal wedding in the news,.
has your perspective of the royal family, her majesty the queen, the national anthem, and maybe politics in general, changed since you left the borg?.
even if you're not british, would you say you are more patriotic now?.
So for me the royals are PARASITES...
But the wedding ( taking one example) has brought a great sum of money into the British economy,
one that will have benefited the "common man", dont you think?
Isn't it rather a symbiotic relationship nowadays?
